INSPIRATION & ENCOURAGEMENT FOR EACH DAY OF UTC PANHELLENIC RECRUITMENT
Day 5: You Are Loved
God created you. He loves you! He’s going to care for you. Don’t let a rejection from a chapter or your perceptions of the women in chapters cause you to have doubts about God’s plans for you.
Can you trust Him?
This week you have been through so many emotions and you are probably running on empty. You may be celebrating at the end of what has been the best week of your life but don’t be surprised if Bid Day has disappointing moments, or if you’re left wondering, “Did I make the right decision?” You are totally normal! You are not alone!
Read Psalm 103:1-5--
“Praise the Lord, my soul;
all my inmost being, praise His holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul,
and forget not all His benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
Read Romans 8:38-39--
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things pres- ent nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Read Psalm 23:1-3--
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake.”
Ask
Do you feel that God is pleased with you? Do you feel separated from His love?
For those who have a relationship with Him, He delights in you and has unconditional love for you! His approval is unchanging--no matter what!
Pray
Pray for more of an awareness of God’s love and provision for you. Pray for God to give you close friends in your chapter, dorm, classes and throughout your college experience. Pray also for God to guide you to a place where He is going to encourage you and to help you grow in your faith.
Think About It
These verses make it clear that God loves you and created you to know Him personally. But, when people are indifferent to God, rebel against Him and separate themselves from Him, they cannot know Him personally and fully experience His love and plan.
The Bible says the clearest message God sent about His love for us was when He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to be the only solution for our indifference and rebellion towards Him (what the Bible calls “sin”). Through Christ alone you can know God and fully experience His love. The Bible goes on to say that we must individually accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and then we can know God and experience His love. Jesus restores our broken relationship with God, becomes our life’s solid foundation, meets the longings of our hearts, and directs us to the fullest, most abundant life possible!
As recruitment ends and you look ahead to your time in college, what are some things you can do this semester to make your relationship with God a priority?
From the Greek Cru staff
We’re glad you’re here!
We’re Savannah & Lauren, some of the Greek Cru staff at UTC. Recruitment Week will be one of fun and excitement, and probably some anxiety as well. Our hope is to encourage you as you participate in recruitment and as you transition to college. Greek Cru exists as a spiritual resource for you in the Greek system at UTC and we hope we can connect with you!
No matter what you currently think about God or Jesus, we pray this devotional helps as recruitment can bring up questions or doubts about purpose, significance, and a sense of security in uncertain times.
You may not be able to do the devotions every day, but do what you can—answer questions, read, think, and pray. And feel free to reach out to process more if you’d like.
